Building Department office hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mon-Fri.
No office hours or inspections on weekends or holidays.
Special office hours can be made by appointment.

The following is information to be used for the planning prior to the issuance of a building permit.
Building codes

- Front, rear and side elevations
- Light and ventilation schedule
Foundation and basement
- Footing sizes
- Footing for columns: size and placement
- Size of basement foundation
- Basement windows location
- Footing drains and sump
- Girder beam
- Size and type of column for girder beam
- Sill size and anchor bolt sequence
Stairways
- Maximum riser height: 7 3/4 inches
- Minimum tread depth: 10 inches, nose to nose
- Clearance for headroom: 6 feet - 8 inches
- Height and spacing of handrails and guardrails
- Stair detail required
Framing
- Floor joist and decking - size, grade, species, spacing
- Floor truss - engineers specifications
- Interior wall covering - type
- Exterior sheeting and wall covering

Roof

Call for an Inspection 24 hours before:
- Footings are poured.
- Foundation is backfilled.
- Concrete slabs are poured, i.e basements, sidewalks, garages, etc.
- Interior and exterior walls are insulated and drywalled. All mechanical, electrical and plumbing runs must be complete.
- After insulation installation, before drywall.
- After water and sewer connections are made, before backfilling
- Final inspection made prior to occupancy.
