The City of Harvard is accepting applications for the position of part-time seasonal workers for the Parks Department. Position will report to the Parks Lead Worker with general supervision from Director of Public Works and line staff. Ideal candidates would be retirees or people looking for part time employment to cover the growing season while school is in session. Individuals on summer break from education may be considered.
Purpose
The primary responsibility Parks Summer Seasonals is to assist manual labor and landscape maintenance as assignedto keep parks and open areas of the City properly maintained. This may include using zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, pickups, hand saws/pruning tools, and general physical labor.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision
Physical Demands
- Ability to liftor move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, use hands to operateobjects, tools, and controls, and operate motorized vehicles and equipment (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Operate equipment, tools, and machinery as needed
- Perform manual labor as assigned
Pay rate
- $15.50 to $18.00 depending on previous experience and returning seasonals
Scheduled Hours
- Approximately 32 hours per week
- Ideally starting late April working until late September, but may accommodate summer break if needed
