The City of Harvard is accepting applications for the position of part-time seasonal workers for the Public Works Division. Position will report to the Director of Public Works with general supervision from Public Works line staff. Ideal candidates would be someone interested in working trades or on summer break from education.
Purpose
The primary responsibility Public Works Summer Seasonals is to assist manual labor as assigned to keep City Infrastructure maintained and passable. This may include running a wood chipper, pickups, skid-steer loaders, chain saws, miscellaneous hand tools, and general physical labor.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision
Physical Demands
- Ability to liftor move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, use hands to operateobjects, tools, and controls, and operate motorized vehicles and equipment (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Operate equipment, tools, and machinery as needed
- Perform manual labor as assigned
- Assist with event setup and take down
Pay rate
- $15.50 to $17.00 depending on previous experience and returning seasonals
Scheduled Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Late May to late August
